The Nintendo Wii U was released a few years ago. It hasn't been a very popular console, not like the original Wii.
The Wii U is actually an excellent console, but was under-rated due to bad marketing by Nintendo.
I recently purchased a used Wii U. It came with the excellent Mario Kart 8; and I also picked up the Wind Waker HD.
Mario Kart 8 is a fantastic racing game. It is great fun for the whole family, and for every skill level. In this game there is power ups, which helps players catch up to near the front of the pack. More skilled players will probably still win. I think it is a fun balance.
The Wind Waker HD from the Zelda series was also released on the Wii U with upgraded graphics and gameplay tweaks. This game is fantastic fun, as you can sail around an interesting & huge open world. The Zelda series is know from fantastic polished gameplay including creative dungeons to solve like puzzles.
While the Wii U is expected to be replaced by a new Nintendo console soon (the Switch); But the Wii U can still offer great value, if you can find it on sale or used. A final treat from Nintendo will be the next Zelda game in the series. Zelda Breath of the Wild is expected to be released for both the Wii U and Switch in 2017.
The Wii U may become a collectors item in the near future.
